Info For GO Caribbean Teams

GO = Gospel Outreach

GO Caribbean Overview!
GO Caribbean Gospel Saturation is an effort to place the Gospel of John or Gospel of Matthew and other information about a new Bible study or new church plant in every home in the Caribbean, beginning with Barbados. We will seek to identify “Men of Peace.” These are individuals who become Christians, or request Bible studies or visits.
  • The focus is on sowing and saturating the islands with the Gospel. As we go, we must recognize and take advantage of times when the Lord is working in the lives of people who are open and receptive to receiving the message of the Gospel.

  • There is an emphasis on follow-up which involves planting, watering, and reaping by other groups. We accomplish our part of the saturation process and leave the results to God, and the local Bajan Baptists. We will also help them in discipleship, outreach, evangelism and Sunday School training.

  • REMEMBER, we are knocking on doors with boldness because we have already Prayer Walked the area and prayed for the people living inside every home. We ask God to use us to reach people, we put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6), because we are commissioned to "go" (Matthew 28:19-20).

We want Bajans to experience what we have experienced in Christ! As you consider being a part of GO Caribbean, pray, pray, pray!

Type of Entry Documents Required: Team members must have a valid USA passport kept on your person at all times. On the flight to Barbados, you will fill out a tourist info card that you will present upon arrival at Barbados...be sure to indicate you are a "tourist" and "30" days in case there are unexpected delays. There is a charge to have your tourist card replaced for departure, so keep it in a safe place. You will need it for your return flight.

Final Destination Airport: Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI), Bridgetown, Barbados.

GO Volunteer Team Leader: The Team Leader must first serve as a team member to receive training and experience. He/she will handle all team administrative details, secure appropriate documents, flight booking, and work with the Coordinator, Thomas Broadhead, on lodging, meals, gospels purchase, and rental transportation. He/she will ensure that the “Manual for GO Volunteers” and “Study Guide for GO Volunteers” is used to prepare the volunteers for the project.  He/she will work with the team to raise all necessary funds, making arrangements for contingencies. Be a servant leader.

GO Caribbean Team: A team of 6 or 7 adults. Over age 18 preferred, under age 15 not allowed.

Primary Job Description: The teams will prayer walk, distribute Gospel saturation materials to homes in assigned areas, and help identify “Men of Peace.” These are individuals who become Christians, or request Bible studies or visits. A team member will record data that can be used for follow-up by the Bajan Baptist churches. Be sure you are prepared to be on your feet for long periods of time. Wear the right shoes!

Items/Materials to Bring to the Field: Bible, Go, Plant, Serve Volunteer Handbook, Casual clothes, good pair of walking shoes (avoid new shoes), sunscreen, sunglasses, hat or cap, and backpack or bag for carrying gospel saturation materials.

Minimum Experience Required: Active Prayer Life. Required Qualifications: None.

Health Considerations: What factors would influence the individual’s health and ability to do this job? The project will involve walking in the designated Gospel Saturation areas. The person should not consider working with this type of project if they are not able to walk 4 to 6 hours per day during Prayer Walking and Gospel Distribution. Some projects involve walking in hot temperatures. Each team member should bring any medicines needed, and notify the Coordinator, Thomas Broadhead, of health conditions such as diabetes.

Immunizations: No required immunizations for entry into Barbados.

Mode of In Country Travel: The Volunteer team pays for a rented vehicle, including gasoline from arrival on the field until departure. The driver's license cost is $5 USD along with current USA driver's license. They drive on the left side of the road!

How Much Will the Trip Cost Per Person?  No exact cost can be given, because airline tickets vary.  Each GO Volunteer Team Leader should obtain airline ticket cost, and then add estimated field cost to get approximate trip cost.

Approximate cost of trip per person:

  • $575-$650 airfare from Atlanta

  • $105 for housing

  • $200-$300 for meals

  • $22 required insurance

  • $175 rental transportation

Since Heritage Hills Baptist Church is paying for the cost of Gospels and other printed materials, the cost should be approximately $1,250.

Housing: We will stay at the Barbados Baptist College and Training Centre at a cost of $15 per day per person.

Meals: Restaurants are expensive in Barbados. Every effort will be made to minimize cost. You might consider a cost of approximately $35 per day per person. This will mean eating a light breakfast, sandwich for lunch, and maybe a restaurant for dinner.

Required insurance: Insurance will be purchased through IMB at a current cost of $2.75 per day per person. Each Team Leader will be given info to purchase the group's coverage.

Transportation: Rental transportation and gasoline will cost approximately $175 per person for the week in order to rent a vehicle that will carry 6-7 people.

Gospels: Heritage Hills Baptist Church will pay the cost of the gospels distributed.

$1,250 is the approximate cost per person. That is a lot of money that some people do not have readily available. Begin praying now about whether God wants you to faith Him in funding this trip. This is a great way to spend your money for the Kingdom! Your investment could make an eternal difference in someone's life, including your own.
