Our Story!

A few years ago I began reading about Gospel Saturation in International Mission Board (IMB) periodicals. After reading that first article I felt it was a great idea because God clearly says that His Word will not return empty. In fact this is what He said in Isaiah 55:11:

"so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

In the summer of 2007 I started going to subdivisions to see if Gospel Saturation would work in our area. I was overwhelmed at the reception I received. I found it best to go on Saturdays when most people are in "kick back" mode and not all involved in the daily routines of life with work and school. I had such a positive experience that we soon began Gospel Saturation in our church, Heritage Hills Baptist Church, Conyers, GA and have placed the Gospel of John in many homes in our area.

In January 2008, Linda and I along with two other couples from our church, went to Mexico to be part of GO Mexico working with IMB Missionaries David and Pam Wong south of Mexico City. It was a great opportunity to be a part of international missions.

GO Caribbean began with Rick Jenkins, IMB Missionary to Barbados. He asked me to head up the project and after much prayer and discussion, Linda and I accepted the challenge. The goal of GO Caribbean is to saturate the whole Caribbean Region, beginning with Barbados, with the Gospel of John or Matthew. This will be an on-going project partnering with Bajan churches to reach the Caribbean Region with the Gospel. Each packet of materials distributed will include a Gospel of John or Matthew, a Gospel tract and an invitation to be part of a Bible study or new church plant in their area. We will work alongside Bajan Baptist churches with Gospel Saturation and they will be involved in the process of follow-up. We will be partners with Bajan Baptists through encouraging churches in outreach, training and mentoring.

We, and all teams, will work as volunteers through IMB and go at our own expense.

We will kick off GO Caribbean in September, 2008. You can be involved in several ways:

  • Be a Prayer Partner and pray daily for God's leadership for each GO Caribbean team.
  • Serve as a team member and help us pray for and saturate the island with the Gospel of John. You remember that God said, "...My Word will not return empty".
  • After your first trip as a team member, you might prayerfully consider helping us as a Team Leader. Team Leaders are responsible for training and accompanying a team of 6-7 team members to Barbados once a year. The team might be out of your church or from other states. You will be provided with all manuals and student guides for the training.

The great majority of IMB short-term missionaries work with the MAC Region, which includes Middle America and the Caribbean. We will receive inquiries from IMB and will need a great number of Team Leaders. That way, we can send several teams a year to accomplish our goal of praying for and placing a Gospel in the hands of every home in Barbados, and eventually the Caribbean region. It is a major goal. Remember that Luke said in Luke 1:37, "For nothing is impossible with God." Aren't you glad we have a God who can accomplish this through His people?

We are waiting to hear from you! You can email or call 770.922.2027.
